Need science tutoring? Chemistry home tutoring?
'A' Level, GCSE, Adult Learners
From author, toxicologist and chemist, Laura H. Robinson
Fee: £30 per hour tuition
I currently work as a science
tutor and as a consultant to industry, which provides me with many
real life examples and case studies that I draw upon to illustrate
the theoretical aspects of the courses that I teach/tutor.
My
enthusiasm for what I do is reflected in my teaching. A good example
of this is the informal breakfast chemistry club that I started
for my foundation degree students. This proved to be very popular even though it meant that the students had to come into college
earlier than usual.
Despite the high expectations
that I have of my students, I am very approachable and always take
the time to ensure that my students fully understand what is being
covered in the session.
Teaching Experience
As
the former Head of Department for Maths and Science at a large
college in West Sussex, and tutor with the Open University, I am a
qualified teacher with experience of teaching a diverse range of
students.
I am recognised as having an
innate ability to combine enthusiasm for the subject together with
the development of outstanding study skills and exam technique.
Although it is true that
increased understanding of the subject will improve your grades, my
experience suggests that this is only part of the equation.
Improvement in the understanding of the subject together with
excellent study skills and exam technique is the only way that top
marks can be achieved.

You made sure he understood the basics and gave him the confidence and skills to build on this; with fantastic results he is thrilled with his top grade marks and so am I! Thank you again." Meera
"Dear Laura, This is just to thank you for your help...I was delighted to get 95% in the examined part of the course - far more than I dared hoped for and enough to obtain a distinction..." - Mark, Open University Student
"Highly recommended!" - Jenny Craddock
