Science Home Tutoring in West Sussex with Laura H. Robinson

It is common for many students at some point tofind that they are struggling to keep up with their studies.

As a consequence the motivation to learn can fall to the wayside, potentially spiralling to a point where exam success is no longer a certainty.

My goal is therefore to boost confidence through improved subject understanding together with the development of outstanding study skills and exam technique. Thereby ensuring that all have the potential to achieve top marks in their course.

Now, a little more about me. I am a qualified Chemist with over ten years experience in health, safety and environmental issues, as well as chemical compliance.

I am also the author of, Toxicology and Ecotoxicology in Chemical Safety Assessment. Blackwell Publishing Ltd 2005 and edited by Dr. Ian Thorn.

"...brings together a large amount of up-to-date information that probably never has been brought together in one place.
This is not a book for the professional toxicologist, but for those who need to use toxicology professionally
."

Chemistry & Industry, Issue 10 May 2005

I am also the author of, Handbook of Toxicology and Ecotoxicology for the Pulp and Paper Industry. Blackwell Science Ltd, 2001, and edited by Dr. Ian Thorn.

"...a clearly written and concise guide to the terminology and its broader meaning.Mark Macaulay, Paper Technology, July 2001

Need science tutoring? Chemistry home tutoring?

'A' Level, GCSE, Adult Learners

From author, toxicologist and chemist, Laura H. Robinson

Fee: £30 per hour tuition

I currently work as a science tutor and as a consultant to industry, which provides me with many real life examples and case studies that I draw upon to illustrate the theoretical aspects of the courses that I teach/tutor.

My enthusiasm for what I do is reflected in my teaching. A good example of this is the informal breakfast chemistry club that I started for my foundation degree students. This proved to be very popular even though it meant that the students had to come into college earlier than usual.

Despite the high expectations that I have of my students, I am very approachable and always take the time to ensure that my students fully understand what is being covered in the session.

  • In between sessions I contact students by telephone to monitor progress and half-term progress reports can be provided upon request.

Teaching Experience
As the former Head of Department for Maths and Science at a large college in West Sussex, and tutor with the Open University, I am a qualified teacher with experience of teaching a diverse range of students.

I am recognised as having an innate ability to combine enthusiasm for the subject together with the development of outstanding study skills and exam technique.

Although it is true that increased understanding of the subject will improve your grades, my experience suggests that this is only part of the equation. Improvement in the understanding of the subject together with excellent study skills and exam technique is the only way that top marks can be achieved.
